ARCH1001 STUDIO SESSION 1

A) Best piece of creative artwork at high school:

This is a drawing i drew towards the end of my high school years of a lily flower. There are different myths associated with the flower in different cultures, such as greek and chinese. In the christian world the lily represents pure and virginal love where as in China it can be used as a lucky charm and also beleived to avert evil.

B) Image of building that inspired me to become an architect:

After visiting Taiwan in 2007, standing on the doorsteps of the world's tallest building (Taipei 101), it inspired me to become an architect. Deep in thought about the structure of the building and how it was possible for a building to erected that high. Interesting facts about the tower is that the building has the two fastest elevators (Toshiba) in the world. They travel at a top speed of 1,008 metres per minute or 16,8 metres per second (just over 60 km/h). The tower was designed to represent a bamboo shoot rising, adding a sense of culture to one of Taiwans' biggest tourist attractions.

C)Original photograph of something beautiful:

This originial photograph was taken at the Sydney motorshow in 2007. The car is a Lexus IS250, reasons for why i think it is beautiful is that the shape of the body is very curvy and that in my opinion look's like something from the future. Interesting facts about the car would be that there is no key to turn on the ignition and instead there is a button. The speedometer borders turn like a compass to show the driver which direction he or she is heading towards.
